Caramel Rice Krispie Treats

Caramel rice krispie treats are next level cereal treats! Made with homemade salted caramel, these chewy marshmallow squares are perfectly gooey!

Make salted caramel: Make on the stovetop, then pour caramel into a bowl and cool for 20 minutes.

Step 1

Make rice krispies: Melt butter in large pot over medium heat.

Step 2

Once butter has melted, add marshmallows to the pan.

Step 3

Stir the mixture over medium-low heat until marshmallows are gooey and melted.

Step 4

Stir in vanilla extract and flaky salt to combine.

Step 5

Remove pan from the heat. Add salted caramel to marshmallow mixture and swirl together with a spatula to combine.

Step 6

Add crispy rice cereal. Fold in cereal until  incorporated and mixture is gooey.

Step 7

Transfer mixture to prepared 8-inch pan and press into an even layer with a metal spatula.

Step 8

Add chocolate: Pour melted chocolate over the rice krispie layer and smooth with a spatula.

Step 9

Let chocolate set for 20 minutes, then sprinkle the top with flaky sea salt.

Step 10

Move the pan to the refrigerator for 20 minutes, or until chocolate topping is set. Cut into squares with a sharp knife.
